Overcoming Formwork Design Challenges in a High-Complexity FRP Project

When faced with an impractical formwork design on a high-stakes infrastructure project, Trizym Group had to act swiftly. With tight deadlines, evolving site conditions and strict engineering requirements, the team needed an innovative solution to keep the project moving without compromising quality, safety or budget.

The Challenge

Trizym Group was engaged in a major Tier 1 infrastructure project to deliver a large-scale Formwork, Reinforcement and Pouring (FRP) package. The scope of work involved intricate formwork designs and structurally demanding elements, requiring precision and efficiency at every stage. However, as construction progressed, a significant challenge emerged.

The original formwork design, while structurally sound on paper, proved impractical for execution in the field. Without modifications, the constraints of the design threatened to cause delays and inflate costs beyond acceptable limits. Site conditions demanded adjustments but each design change required rapid approval to prevent disruptions to the construction schedule. The team faced the difficult task of finding a solution that preserved structural integrity, ensured safety and complied with engineering specifications—all while remaining cost-effective and time-efficient.
